Sobeys Voilà Customer Fulfillment Centre

This project included the completion and fit-out of over 500,000 SF, including the addition of a 3-level, 255,000 SF mezzanine within an existing 255,000 SF shell structure, to effectively double the building’s GFA. This was completed to house the Sobeys Voilà Automated Customer Fulfillment Centre (CFC), using an Automated Storage and Retrieval System known as Ocado Smart Platform (OSP).

The three phased fit-out was completed on a 14 month schedule and included the creation of three demised temperature zones; ambient, chilled and freezer, along with operational and administrative offices. Works included slab-on-grade / raft slab, three new structural mezzanines, sprinklers / fire alarm, plumbing and HVAC, main and distribution power and controls, and all requirements in accordance with Ocado.

This project also included the construction of a vehicle storage area within the site to house, maintain and charge the delivery vehicles. Each storage space is equipped with a charging station to ensure vehicle interiors are keep at a constant temperature to ensure they are ready for use when needed. In addition, there is also a loading facility for tractor trailers that deliver product to the fulfillment centre.
