Serpent River Water Treatment Plant

Project Details

Client: Serpent River First Nation / OCWA
Location: Serpent River, Ontario
Building Type: Civil/Industrial
Contract: General Contracting

This was an essential infrastructure project to provide the Serpent River First Nations with a scalable water treatment facility. The system draws in raw water from Aird Bay with a 300mm intake pipe secured 10m below the surface, pumping it uphill using a series of low-lift pump wells to two glass-fused-to-steel water storage tanks. An 1100m water transmission line supplying the local community completes the system.

This scope required full marine construction services including a barge and commercial divers. Due to the location of the construction site, significant blasting and dewatering operations were required prior to beginning the main scope of work. Existing wells and pumping stations were decommissioned once the new stand-alone process was operational. Local band members are employed within the project’s workforce.
