Athol St Student Residence

This project involved the construction a new Student Residence Building in Oshawa, Ontario. This 83,000 SF nine-storey building consists of 185 suites and one level of underground parking. Building amenities include a gym, study rooms, games rooms and multi-purpose rooms. Each suite is equipped with a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a full three piece bathroom. The residence building is within walking distance of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology’s Facility of Criminology building, Baagwating Aboriginal Resource Centre and a short drive distance from the UOIT North Oshawa Campus and Durham College.

The project site was very tight and required extensive planning and site logistics by Matheson to ensure the surrounding residential neighbourhood was not negatively impacted during the construction phase of this project. Scope included reinforced concrete building, site services installation, road works, excavation and temporary shoring, erection of superstructure, all works associated to building envelope, installation of mechanical and electrical systems, interior finishes, carpentry and millwork, commissioning, site paving, concrete walkways and curbs as well as landscaping.
