Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Lodge

Project Details

Client: Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Centre Inc.
Location: Manitoulin Island, Ontario
Building Type: Health Care
Contract: Lump Sum

The Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Centre is a 13,700 SF facility dedicated to Anishinaabe nations where individuals and families can go for spiritual, physical, mental and emotional healing under the guidance and support of Elders and Helpers through cultural teachings and spiritual traditions.

Construction of this new facility consisted of a single-storey wood frame structure with conventional foundation system and a slab-on-grade ground floor. This facility is designed to be energy-efficient and accommodate 25 to 30 guests, with hotel-like rooms configured for single or double occupancy, as well as families with children. The building also features meeting and treatment rooms, a sweat lodge and kitchen and dining room facilities.
