Delivered for The Corporation of the Town of New Tecumseth, this 45,000 sq. ft. adaptive re-use project transformed a former educational facility into a modern municipal administration centre and community hub.
The project involved extensive renovation and rehabilitation of the existing two-storey structure, along with a striking timber-and-glass entrance addition that enhances accessibility, transparency, and civic presence. The existing gymnasium was reimagined as a council chamber, while new administrative offices, meeting spaces, customer service areas, and public gathering spaces were integrated throughout the facility. Significant building envelope upgrades, enhanced daylighting, and new energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems were incorporated to create a sustainable, future-ready workplace that supports the Town's long-term growth and service delivery needs. The facility's innovative adaptive re-use design and prominent use of mass timber contributed to its recognition with a 2024 Ontario Wood WORKS! Award.
