Ministry of Natural Resources Forest Fire Management Centre Expansion

Project Details

Client: Ministry of Natural Resources / Colliers Project Leaders
Location: North Bay, Ontario
Building Type: Aviation
Contract: Lump Sum

This project entailed the new construction of a 12,500 SF single-storey building to provide the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) emergency response crews with new offices, training space and equipment storage in order to better prepare and respond to local wild fires.

The building was constructed using cast-in-place and masonry foundations with a masonry superstructure. Project scope included all mechanical and electrical systems associated with a new build, modifications to existing site services and the installation of new services (hydro, water, sewage) and additional aviation work which included access roads, parking, fixed wing and helicopter aprons, storm water management, geothermal system, rain harvesting system, fencing and landscaping.

All aviation work was done in accordance with all governing regulations and requirements of the local airport authority.

This project achieved LEED® Gold Certification.
