Creating a more functional workplace while keeping daily operations moving was central to Matheson’s Phase 3 modernization of Durham Region Headquarters. The renovation brought renewed functionality and flexibility to spaces serving multiple departments, combining a comprehensive interior rebuild with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety upgrades, alongside enhanced audiovisual, data, and security systems. Reconfigured offices, improved circulation, accessible spaces, and a new staff café were complemented by updated finishes, acoustic treatments, and coordinated furniture installation. Throughout the work, phased construction, protected work areas, and carefully scheduled activities supported ongoing operations within an occupied, operationally sensitive environment.
This project continued Matheson’s partnership with the Regional Municipality of Durham, following the successful completion of Durham Office Modernization. Together, these projects support the Region’s efforts to create modern, functional workplaces.
