Biigtigong Nishnaabeg First Nation Wastewater Treatment Plant

Biigtigong Nishnaabeg First Nation Wastewater Treatment Plant

Construction of a water supply and treatment plant consisting of a water intake, raw water distribution pipes with a low-lift pumping station, water treatment plant, and distribution system. A 3 km pipeline is to be installed under the lake bed. Pipes running under the lake bed will require enough pressure to ensure water flow.

A unique aspect of this project is the concurrent construction of two separate buildings, with separate mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and monitoring systems, presenting their own challenges in timing, scheduling, and site coordination.

A horizontal directional drill will be used to install both the raw water transmission main and the water main transmission. Scuba divers will be used to install the raw water transmission into the infrastructure in the bay, and installation of an advanced monitoring program, equipment, and laboratory for water analyzation and testing.
