Haldimand Centralized Administration Building
Project Details
Client: Haldimand County
Location: Cayuga, Ontario
Building Type: Institutional
Contract: Lump Sum
This project involved the new construction of a 42,900 SF, 3-storey administration building in Cayuga, Ontario located on the same property as the Cayuga Memorial Arena. This new building amalgamates over 176 staff from various locations into a single facility which will generate better, more complete customer service and maximize operational efficiencies. In general, the building is organized to provide Council and Provincial Offences Act (POA) functions and short-term customer service needs on the main floor. The second floor provides all of the functions associated with development and business services that have longer customer interaction needs, and the third floor houses the divisions which provide support functions. This facility also functions as Town Hall for the County.
The building consists of a steel framed superstructure supporting pre-cast hollow core slabs with a cast-in-place reinforced concrete core for lateral stability. The building was designed with a sustainable and energy efficient philosophy incorporating many elements of wood construction, enhanced building envelope design, large overhangs to increase shading and extensive glazing to access natural light throughout the building.
