Canada Revenue Agency Tenant Fitout
The CRA’s 5-storey public works and government services building required a complete retrofit of the 85,000 sq.ft. space. An existing tenant remained during the entire construction process. Care was taken to provide a redundant plan to ensure on-going operations were retained. Temporary mechanical and electrical services were utilized to provide backup to critical data systems in the event of power failure or emergency. Matheson also installed safe access and exit points in order to retain regular work-flow for the remaining tenant. Additionally, noise and dust barriers were employed to prevent fugitive construction materials from impacting employees. To compound the dynamic circumstances of this project, hazardous materials were found in the existing finishes and structure. Asbestos and mold required abatement and disposal. Matheson supervised the professional subcontractor during the entire remediation process. High-end finishes were installed specific to the use of the client. The project was completed on an extremely tight schedule in order to meet the lease commencement date with the CRA. The existing tenant was able to carry out their business as usual without any interruption or downtime.
