Stayner Sewage Pumping Station

Project Description

Clearview Township has reached capacity on sewage treatment and must redirect new volume to neighboring communities. Matheson Constructors was awarded this project under lump-sum contract.

The scope will include complete construction of new pumping station with one-350mm diameter and one-200mm forcemain installed to construction limit. Another 1000 meters of 200mm forcemain will be placed and connected to existing sewage treatment plant south of proposed pump station. 1000 meters of 200mm watermain with 50mm water service will also be placed and connected to existing treatment plant. 525mm to 675mm sanitary sewer piping with maintenance holes will similarly be installed along with a self-contained 250kW diesel standby generator.

Low-shrinkage concrete is required throughout the structure. A stringent quality assurance process provides a safe cold-weather protection plan to ensure the schedule is maintained despite winter conditions.

Significant care was taken to protect adjacent streams and watercourse. Silt barriers and curtains remain in place until project completion. Substantial specialized site dewatering was also required. Due to soil conditions, sheet pile shoring system was utilized to ensure the safety and stability of the excavated area.
