Braestone Water Treatment Plant
This project was situated near Orillia, Ontario and treats well water to provide over 100 L/s of potable drinking water to over one-hundred estate homes in the development.
The scope of work included all site servicing, earthworks, building architectural and structural construction, building electrical and mechanical, process mechanical / electrical and controls as well as a 250kW natural-gas standby generator.
Critical equipment included two low-lift pumps, one jockey pump, three vertical-turbine variable frequency drive pumps, chlorine treatment system, programmable logic controls and SCADA system, standby generator and all associated process piping and electrical controls.
Challenges on this project were centered around adjacent homeowner lot changes and their impact on the site grading and elevations. Additionally, the generator was incorrectly specified and accommodations had to be made to revise the exhaust system to ensure the system fit within the building.
